Yes, SketchCop® FACETTE will run on a Mac O/S. The only requirement is that you purchase one of the many available bridge programs that allows you to run Windows programs.

How is SketchCop® FACETTE different from other facial composite software?

SketchCop® FACETTE Face Design System is arguably the first facial composite software capable of yielding the same quality product offered by that of a police sketch artist. We also provide easy to use editing tools to give your image a finished appearance while increasing eyewitness satisfaction. Other programs use photographic elements that DO NOT assemble well, often leaving jagged or uneven lines between features. In some cases, these same programs offer limited editing capabilities, leaving their eyewitness feeling dissatisfied with the results.

Do you offer discounts for more than one software license?

Yes, multiple license discounts are available.

Do you charge annual maintenance fees?

NO, we DO NOT charge annual maintenance fees. We would rather see you invest your money in the software by purchasing additional training or software upgrades so that you can catch more crooks.

Yes, SketchCop® Solutions offers training in several different formats. Please visit our Training page to choose the one that best suits your agency’s needs. All training has been developed by The SketchCop® – Michael W. Streed and is based upon his 35 years of experience as a police sketch artist.

Which is more cost effective, a Police Sketch Artist or SketchCop® FACETTE?

SketchCop® FACETTE is a far more cost-effective force multiplier. It is LESS expensive to purchase a license and train your entire unit for 24/7 availability versus one person with limited availability.

Which is better? Desktop Vs. Laptop

It’s up to you. Many of our law enforcement clients purchase a license for both desktop and laptop. The desktop option allows you to control the interview environment by inviting the eyewitness to your office. You can also store completed digital composite images on your network, making them available to other members of the department. The laptop option allows you to respond in the field and take SketchCop® FACETTE to your eyewitness in cases where they are unable to respond to you.

Do you recommend the standard mouse, or a Wacom Digital Drawing Tablet?

It’s a matter of personal preference. I prefer the natural feel of holding a pencil so I prefer a tablet. Either way, you will want something in your hand that you are comfortable drawing with when using one of our many Adobe®-licensed editing tools to refine your image.

Why are SketchCop® FACETTE images in grayscale?

Our digital facial composites are black and white. Color can be expensive to print and may be difficult to duplicate in certain instances.  I have found it helpful in isolated cases where distinct coloring was described. IF you need to add a distinctive color you can always import the SketchCop FACETTE image into Adobe® Photoshop®.  Those who prefer color, may want to consider our Frontalis Facial Composite System software.

Do you offer a color option?

If you prefer color facial composites, consider requesting a FREE demo of our Frontalis Facial Composite System software product.

Do you offer facial components based upon race?

SketchCop® Solutions does not engage in racial profiling. We let the suspect’s ethnic background develop organically through the eyewitness’ description. While some of our facial components may resemble characteristics of a particular ethnic group, they are co-mingled and categorized by facial component type only.

Can you edit SketchCop® FACETTE images in another program?

Yes, you can export the image into many of the popular photo editing programs.

Can I export SketchCop® FACETTE images?

Yes, SketchCop® FACETTE digital composite images can be exported in the .JPEG format, or as a multi-layer image that can be opened in Adobe® PhotoShop® or Adobe® PhotoShop® Elements.

Which is more effective: a police sketch artist or facial composite software?

Both are equally effective. Police Sketch Artists like to make the argument that they are superior to police composite sketch programs. At one time they may have been, but with SketchCop® FACETTE; users now have a broader range of options.

How long does it take to create a composite sketch using SketchCop® FACETTE?

It all depends upon the length of time the interview takes. However, under ideal conditions a high-quality digital facial composite can be created using SketchCop® FACETTE in as little as one hour. (This time is based upon the author’s previous experiences.)
