Crime: Kidnap/Sexual Assault Attempt

Agency: Grand Prairie, TX Police Department

On 02/13/2012 at approximately 5:35 PM, The Grand Prairie Police Department responded to a report of an attempted sexual assault and kidnapping of a thirteen year old female in the 1200 block of East Cober.  A Hispanic male suspect had attempted sexually assault the child who was able to fight the suspect off and run away. Detective Tracy was able to interview the child a complete a sketch of the possible suspect. After completing the sketch, Detective Hinson printed off photos of registered sex offenders in that zip code. While comparing the photos to the sketch, one of the registered sex offenders looked almost identical. After further research it was found that he drove a vehicle that matched what the victim described as well. The suspect was located and arrested the next day for Attempted Sexual Assault of a child along with not reporting proper address as a registered sex offender. The suspect has since been convicted of this offense and was sentenced to twenty years in prison. This was the first sketch done with this program. If not for SketchCop FACETTE, this case would have gone unsolved and possibly led to more serious crimes with this suspect.
